  • Sawmill Market is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.A

  • The building was designed by architects Eric Haskins, AIA, api(+) 

  • Around 3,700 square metre site

  • Prior the building was an old warehouse in the sawmill district 

  • ​It now hosts art, design and culinary innovation 

    • Owners set up their boutiques, restaurants or bars inside ​

  • Designed to be a place for people to rejoice and gather 

  • The development also includes some outdoor seating for visitors to freely use 

  • Many elements of the building's exterior and interior are from the old site ​

    • Used reclaimed timber from the old warehouse ​

ERGON AGORA EAST SUPERMARKET - GREECE

  • Mixed use architecture project in Pylaia, Greece 

  • Architects: Urban Soul Project 

  • Building uses and old industrial shell of 1970 and is around 2500 square metres

  • Industrial elements can be found throughout the market's design 

    • further example of design being influenced by an area's history or former identity ​

  • The building also has a skylight as part of the roof -- allows the building to be integrated with its environment

  • Outdoor seating is combined with green infrastructure

  • 3,000 square metre public market in London, U.K. 

  • Designed by Fosters & Partners 

  • Specifically designed "The Kitchens" - a new food island in the heart of the market 

  • Multiple food stalls / units offering varying and new culinary talent 

  • The stalls are open and allow visitors to watch their food being prepared - creates and intimate experience 

  • Design of the stalls was inspired by the original architecture of the old market
